Mario Bäger (born June 25, 1964 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper . He played four Bundesliga games for Bayer 05 Uerdingen .
Life
At the beginning of his contract office work, Bäger was a police officer. In order to have more time for football, he then worked in the Bayer AG plant security department in Leverkusen from October 1987 , and since March 2010 as head of plant security for Bayer MaterialScience in Shanghai , China. He is married and has two children.
successes
Mario Bäger began playing football at Borussia Mönchengladbach . As a youth he played in the team of the Niederrhein Football Association . Together with other Mönchengladbach youth players, he moved to Bayer 05 Uerdingen in the B-Jugend. His first Uerdingen trainer there was Wolfgang Kuhlen. Bäger's successes in the Uerdingen youth include the Lower Rhine championship and reaching the cup final of the West German Football Association .
Mario Bäger made four appearances in the Bundesliga for Uerdingen . In the 1985/86 season , Werner Vollack received a red card from Uerdingen and then suffered from a knee injury. When substitute goalkeeper Manfred Kubik also received a red card, Bäger had his first Bundesliga appearance as the third goalkeeper and goalkeeper of the Uerdingen association league team against Fortuna Düsseldorf (1: 1) under coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp . The following game at Bayern Munich was lost 1: 5. In the 1986/87 season he was the substitute goalkeeper behind Kubik, but was not used. During the 1987/88 season he was third goalkeeper behind Manfred Kubik and Werner Vollack and came on two missions. During this season, Siegfried Grüninger was a substitute goalkeeper for the Krefeld team. From the 1991/92 season , Bäger played for two years for Rheydter SV in the Oberliga Nordrhein, then for FC Wegberg-Beeck .
In the autumn of 1999, Mario Bäger became coach at FC Wegberg-Beeck as the successor to Detlef Pirsig , but was dismissed a few months later.
