Mario Eick

Mario Eick (born January 2, 1969 in Cottbus ) is a German theater director and director .

Life

After completing his automotive electrician apprenticeship, Mario Eick became one of the youngest construction brigadiers in East Berlin. After the reunification he lived in Baden-Württemberg , where he studied at the University of Education in Weingarten . In 1993 Eick founded the Free Student Theater Weingarten, one year later the touring theater "Theater Arttour".

In 1997 he studied directing for six months at the Athanor Academy in Burghausen . Eick failed the probationary semester at the academy, left it and settled in Burghausen. From then on he worked as a freelance director and actor, among others at the Salzburg State Theater , Theater Dortmund and Theater Ravensburg . In 2000 Eick founded the Cabaret des Grauens in Burghausen. Together with Boris Schumm, Erich Maier, Oliver Vilzmann and others, he went into repertoire in the 2003/2004 season. In 2005 he was awarded the Federal Prize of Youth Clubs in Theaters for the production Schiller: Die Räuber .

From the 2007/2008 season onwards, Eick was artistic director at the Theater an der Rott in Eggenfelden in Lower Bavaria . His engagement ended at the end of the 2011/12 season, as his contract was not extended by the responsible district committee of the Rottal-Inn district. From 2013 Eick was acting director at the theater Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt . In September 2014, he announced that he would be leaving this position. Since the 2015/16 season, Eick has been active in the districts of Altötting, Mühldorf, Traunstein and Rottal-Inn with the newly founded children's and youth theater "Burghauser Märchenalm".
