Mario-Enzo Gamba (born October 8, 1955 in Bergamo ) is an Italian chef .

Career

Gamba comes from a family of restaurateurs. In 1975 he completed his training as an interpreter for Spanish and French. In this profession he worked for an architecture firm in Bergamo for a year.

Then he switched to cooking as an autodidact, hired Alain Chapel (three Michelin stars ), then at the Hotel Palace in St. Moritz . Later he cooked at Tantris under Heinz Winkler (three Michelin stars). In 1986 he opened Winkler's Tristan restaurant in Puerto Portals on Mallorca and headed it as Winkler's "Foreign Minister". He then worked briefly with Gualtiero Marchesi (* 1930) in Milan.

In 1994 he started his own business as a host with the Acquarello restaurant in Munich. The restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star since 2000 , under head chef Waldemar Gollan until 2007.

On October 13, 2017, he opened the Locanda Gamba in the Eataly branch in Munich's Schrannenhalle on Viktualienmarkt , where simple Italian dishes are offered.

Private

Gamba has three children.
