Mario Sertić (born February 11, 1988 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian ice hockey player who has been under contract with KHL Medveščak Zagreb again since 2014 and is part of the club's second team, with which he has been playing in the International Hockey League since 2017 .
Career
Mario Sertić started his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the KHL Medveščak Zagreb . After a year in the Slovak U18 league at HK Povazská Bystrica , he returned to Medveščak. From 2006 to 2009 he played for local rivals KHL Zagreb in the Croatian ice hockey league . He then went back to Medveščak and played there in addition to his appearances in the Croatian league, which he won with the team in 2010 and 2011, also in the Slohokej league, which was dominated by Slovenia . After Medveščak was accepted into the Austrian Ice Hockey League (EBEL), he played for his club mainly in the second team in the Croatian league and achieved his third championship title there in 2012 , but was also used once in the EBEL. In parallel, he played for the KHL Mladost but continue in the Slohokej League. In 2012 he moved to Paris, where he was on the ice for two years with Français Volants in Division 2 , the country's third-highest division. In 2014 he returned to Medveščak and has since played in the second team with which he has competed in the International Hockey League since 2017 . In 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 he was again Croatian champion with Medveščak.
During the 2018/19 season he again played a few games for the club in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL).
International
For Croatia , Sertić took part in the division II tournaments of the U18 World Championships in 2004 , 2005 and 2006 and the U20 World Championships in 2006 , 2007 and 2008 .
In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 2009 World Cup in Division I and the Division II tournaments of the 2011 and 2012 World Championships . He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver 2010 , Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 .
