Mariusz Pawełek (born March 17, 1981 in Lubomia , Poland ) is a Polish football goalkeeper who currently plays at GKS 1962 Jastrzębie .
Career
He started his career at the small club Silesia Lubomia , but soon switched to the youth of the MKS Odra Wodzisław Słąski. After making his debut in the Ekstraklasa in October 2000 , he was unable to establish himself as a regular goalkeeper and only played nine top division games between October 2000 and June 2004 . After one and a half years as a regular goalkeeper, he moved to Wisła Krakow in the winter of 2006 for 350,000 złoty (around 90,000 euros ) , where he was also unable to prevail at first. For the 2007/08 season he was finally number 1 in goal for Krakow and played 16 games in the Ekstraklasa. In December 2006 he made his debut in the Polish national soccer team. Both in 2008 and 2009, Pawelek won the Polish championship title with the Wisla.
For the second half of the 2010/11 season he moved to Turkey for the Süper Lig promoted Konyaspor . After his club had not managed to keep relegation at the end of the season, Pawełek agreed to appear in the second-rate TFF 1st Lig for his club in the coming season . In summer 2012 he left the club and moved back to Poland to Polonia Warsaw .
In the summer of 2013 he moved back to the Turkish Süper Lig for promoted Çaykur Rizespor . After he had only played the first half of the season for this team, he was loaned to the second division side Adana Demirspor for the second half of the season . Mariusz Pawełek returned to Poland for the 2014/15 season and signed a 2-year contract with the option of an additional year at Śląsk Wrocław .
