Marjol Flore (born February 25, 1948 in Amsterdam ) is a singer , theater and film actress with a French-Italian-Dutch background.

Flore enjoyed an international upbringing. After finishing college, she attended the Cabaret Academy in Amsterdam in 1965 through Albert Mol and Wim Ibo. After a short time she was discovered by Ramses Shaffy for his Shaffy Chantate .

Career

First fame

In the 1970s she worked on Natascha Emanuels' first women's cabaret, Vrouwen, vrouwen, vrouwen . She was also seen as an actress in the film Turkish Fruits by Paul Verhoeven and played in the musical De laatste dagen van Ischa with a. a. Gees Linnebank and Josine van Dalsum , with.

In 1973 she experienced her breakthrough with her first solo program, the Marjol Flore Show . The show became a success and made it across national borders, e.g. B. to the Traverse Theater in Edinburgh . In 1975 Flore received the Zilveren Harp , an award for emerging musical talent.

1980s and 1990s

After a few theater appearances, Flore became known in Germany with her show Humor & Passion . The Hamburger Abendblatt wrote about the show: “She is buxom, talented and has a cabaret temperament. And she knows how to put everything into the right rampage with wit ”(Hamburger Abendblatt, March 23, 1983).

In 1985 she was nominated for the Edison (music award) , Holland's largest music award, for her German-language LP Doch ich leb ' .

The CD Kwetsbaar was actually awarded an Edison in 1991. Marjol can also be seen again in Germany with the theater program Lieder und Chansons . In 1992 she played a role in the George Sluizer film Utz , together with u. a. Armin Mueller-Stahl , Paul Scofield , Peter Riegert and Brenda Fricker . Flore also became known in France after appearing on Pascal Sevran's TV show La Chance aux Chansons .

In 1996, Joop van den Ende engaged Flore for the ensemble piece Hoera, we zijn normaal , a homage to Annie M. G. Schmidt . She then moves to Germany, where she takes on the role of Madame Thénardier in the German version of Les Misérables (musical) .

2000 until today

In 2003 Marjol Flore played the role of Saint Maria in the film Life Pornography by film director Edwin Brienen . Then it becomes quiet around Marjol Flore. In April 2012 she will have her comeback on the theater stage in the play Geloof, (Wan) Hoop & Liefde .
