Mark Hoekstra (born October 14, 1994 ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who is under contract with Heerenveen Flyers and has been playing with his club in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League since 2015 .

Career

Clubs

Mark Hoekstra began his career as a hockey player with the Heerenveen Flyers , for whose second team he made his debut at the age of 16 in the Eerste divisie , the second highest division in the Netherlands. For the 2011/12 season he made his first appearances in the first team of the Frisians in the honor division . He has been a regular for the club's first team since 2012. Since 2015 he has been on the ice for the Flyers in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League . In their founding season he reached the play-off final with his team, which was lost to the Belgians from HYC Herentals . As the best team from the Netherlands they became Dutch champions . The Dutch cup competition was also won in 2016. In 2017 they then managed to win the BeNe League and again to win the Dutch championship title.

International

For the Netherlands, Hoekstra took part in the U18 World Cup in 2012 and the U20 World Cup in 2013 in Division II.

In the men's national team , Hoekstra played for the first time at the 2016 World Cup in Division II, when he was promoted to Division I.
