The 2011/12 season was the 52nd season of the Eredivisie , the highest Dutch ice hockey division . The Ruijters Eaters Geleen became champions for the first time in the club's history .

In the main round, the league was divided into two groups of three teams each, with the allocation to the groups based on their respective placement in the North Sea Cup . In Group A were the teams that were the best, third best and fifth best Dutch team in the North Sea Cup, in Group B were the teams that were second best, fourth best and sixth best Dutch team in the North Sea Cup. Each team met each group opponent four times, so that each team played a total of eight games in the main round. The two best teams in each group qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time. In addition, the teams received between one and six bonus points for the main round according to their previous placement in the North Sea Cup.
