The 1997/98 season was the 38th season of the Eredivisie , the highest Dutch ice hockey division . The champions were the Nijmegen Tigers for the fifth time in the club's history . With the Phantoms Deurne from Antwerp , a Belgian team also took part in the league this season.

In the main round, the seven teams played 24 games each. The four best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. The other three teams contested a placement round for fifth place. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
