Career

Club

Mark Samorukv began his career as a hockey player in his Estonian homeland with the Tallinna Eagles , for whom he made his debut in the Meistriliiga in the 2006/07 season . In the following year he was signed by the newly formed professional team of Tartu Big Diamonds , with whom he played in the Latvian ice hockey league and in April 2008 won the Estonian Super Cup with a 4-2 win against the Estonian champions Tartu Kalev-Välk . However, the Big Diamonds were dissolved after the season for financial reasons and Samorukov returned to the Meistriliiga, where he was on the ice with the Tallinn Stars and with them won his first Estonian national championship in 2009 . But the stars also had to file for bankruptcy and so he first played for Tallinn Viiking Sport and in the back series of the 2010/11 season for Tartu Kalev-Välk, with whom he was again Estonian champion. After this success he moved to France, where he was under contract for three years in Asnières-sur-Seine in Division 2 , the third highest division in the country. He then returned to Tartu Kalev-Välk and was again Estonian national champion for the club in 2015. In 2015/16 he played for league rivals HC Panter Tallinn and then moved to HC Tallinn .

International

For Estonia Samorukov took part in the junior division in Division II of the U20 World Cup 2008 and Division I of the U20 World Cup 2009 .

As a 19-year-old Samorukov made his debut for the men's national team at the Division I World Cup in 2008 , when the Balts suffered relegation after a 2-1 defeat after a penalty shoot-out in the decisive game against newcomer Croatia . During his second World Cup appearance in 2011 , the Estonians, who had meanwhile been promoted again, had to relegate to Division II without a win. This time the decisive game was lost 2: 5 against the neighbor from Lithuania . Samorukov had his first international sense of achievement at the 2014 World Cup , when he and his team were promoted to Division I.
