Mark Schenning (born October 18, 1970 in Apeldoorn ) is a Dutch former football player and current coach.

Player career

Schenning began his active career in 1987 with the Go Ahead Eagles from Deventer. The club had just relegated from the Eredivisie to the Eerste Divisie . After four years in the second division, Schenning managed to get promoted back to the top Dutch division in the fifth season with the club. They stayed there up to and including the 1995/96 season . After the sealed relegation, Schenning left the Eagles and transferred to Willem II Tilburg . In 1997/98 , the club achieved fifth place under coach Co Adriaanse , and the following year they even became runner-up. During the winter break of 1999/2000 , the central defender and Willem separated, so that Schenning moved to league rivals FC Den Bosch . At the end of the season he was relegated with these. In the coming winter break, Schenning changed again and signed with NAC Breda . With these he always occupied a place in the top ten of the league until summer 2004. In 2002/03 it even reached fourth place, Schenning's best placement with NAC. It was only in his last professional year in Breda that he fought with the team to stay in the league, which was finally achieved. In his entire career, Schenning came to a total of 436 missions in the Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie and scored 23 hits. He played his last competitive game in the Dutch House of Lords on May 22, 2005 in a 1-1 draw against FC Twente Enschede .

Coaching career

After his active career, Schenning moved into the coaching business. His last employer, NAC Breda , gave him a job in the sports organization. After a year he had to leave the club. Finally, he took over the women from Willem II Tilburg for the 2009/10 season and became Edwin Herman’s assistant in the reserve men’s team. In February 2010, he was commissioned by the Willem board to look after the first men's team in the competitive game. On February 21, 2010 Schenning then made his coaching debut as a coach in the Eredivisie. The away game against the eventual Dutch champions FC Twente Enschede was lost 0-1. He replaced the dismissed Alfons Groenendijk . For the following game, however, Schenning was replaced by new coach Arno Pijpers . Until the end of the season he acted as his assistant coach. Then Schenning and Tilburg parted ways. On 2 November 2010, the club was unterklassige RKSV Schijndel that Schenning is the new head coach known.
