Mark Speicher

Mark Speich (born March 6, 1970 in Bonn ) is a German political scientist , entrepreneur and political official ( CDU ). Since September 2017 he has been State Secretary for Federal, European and International Affairs for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1989, Speich began studying contemporary history , political science and constitutional law , which he completed from 1990 to 1994 at the Universities of Bonn and Cambridge . In 1991 he joined the CDU.

In 1995 the political scientist was employed as a consultant in the political advice office of the CDU General Secretary Peter Hintze . After working as a personal advisor to the Rector of the University of Bonn from 1997 to 1998, he became head of the Society and Politics department of the Herbert Quandt Foundation in 1999 . During this time his doctorate he at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn Dr. phil. (2001). From 2006 to 2008, Speich headed the planning group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag before becoming managing director of the Vodafone Foundation Germany and the Vodafone Institute for Society and Communication .

On September 1, 2017, Mark Speich was appointed by Minister Stephan Holthoff-Pförtner as part of a restructuring of the Laschet cabinet . Until September 4, 2017 he was responsible for federal and European affairs, international affairs and the media , and since September 5 for federal and European affairs as well as international affairs in the division of the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since his appointment as State Secretary, he has also been the federal agent for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Mark Speicher is married and has five children.
