Architecture and history

The half-timbered house , referred to as a merchant's house in the Quedlinburg list of monuments , is essentially an early example of Lower Saxony's half-timbered building. There are remains of the design from the Renaissance period , in particular cylinder beam heads . In the Middle Ages, the property served as the location of the guild house for the dressmakers and, from 1545, the cloth makers . On the house there is a building inscription carved out of the wood with the year 1545. It is the oldest inscription dating in Quedlinburg. However, only the ceiling areas and floor sleepers date from this time . Early examples of the use of fan rosettes have been preserved in this area .

Today's street-side facade and a side extension were built around 1770. At the same time the house was extended. The design was in the style of early classicism with a cornice .

Particularly noticeable is the clearly receding street front on the north side of the house and the unusual design of the roof. The eaves are grooved.
