Architecture and history

The half-timbered house registered in the Quedlinburg monument register was built in its current classical design in the first half of the 19th century. At its core, however, it consists of two houses that were built at the beginning and middle of the 16th century, the facades of which were then combined into one in 1850. In the southern half, the basement is a massive construction. There is a doorway with a vault.

Originally, the property also included three granaries, two barns, stables, sheds and two wells.

On the courtyard side there is a half-timbered house from the 17th century, the basement of which has largely been preserved in its original form. The upper floor was renewed in the 19th century. The carved parapets on the stairs as well as doors and windows from the first half of the 19th century are noteworthy.

The northern courtyard wing, also built in half-timbered construction, dates from the 16th century.

During the GDR era, a bookshop was housed on the ground floor for a long time. In the 1970s, the roof was given concrete roof tiles, and the bat dormers that were originally installed were removed. Then the building stood empty for about two decades. A local pharmacist bought it in November 2010. An extensive renovation took place from the end of 2011, with a 170 m² pharmacy being set up on the ground floor. Rooms for day care and living are provided on the first floor . An apartment with a surface area of 145 m² is planned on the second floor. Possibly the original bat dormers should be restored. The work is scheduled to be completed on January 1, 2013.
