Markus Götz (moderator)

Markus Götz (* 15. August 1973 in Ehingen (Donau) ) is a German sports commentator and - moderator and former handball player .

Career

In his childhood he played soccer , but then discovered handball for himself. From 1985 to 1996 he was active in the left back space at TSG Ehingen . There he played mainly in the national league or association league. Götz left school with the Abitur and then did community service . He then studied sports, geography and politics.

From 1998 he was employed by DSF, later Sport1 , where he mainly worked as a commentator for the handball Bundesliga and the DHB Cup and as a moderator. He also commented on soccer games from the 2nd Bundesliga . In addition, he wrote columns on the station's website about the current sport of handball. At the same time, Götz was for Premiere from 2001 to 2004 and for LIGA total from 2009 to 2013 ! as a soccer reporter in action. Götz has also been commenting on tennis broadcasts on ran since 2014 .

On April 4, 2017, the Sport1 sports program DKB Handballbundesliga (Götz acted as sports commentator) was awarded the German Sports Journalist Award 2017 as the best sports program.

He switched to Sky for the 2017/18 season after the broadcaster had acquired rights to the EHF Champions League as well as those for the handball Bundesliga. There, too, he works as a live reporter for handball and football matches.
