Markus Grübel (born October 15, 1959 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and notary .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1978 at the Mörike-Gymnasium in Esslingen, Grübel did his military service in the Air Force from 1978 to 1979 and then trained as a notary ( official notary ) at the Baden-Württemberg Notary Academy from 1979 to 1984 . From 1985 he worked as a notary's representative. In 1990 he went to Saxony , where he first worked as a specialist advisor in the real estate offices of the Dippoldiswalde , Freital and Pirna districts and then took over the management of the Dresden land registry in 1991 . From 1992 to 1994 he was a consultant for IT , organization and land registry in the Saxon State Ministry of Justice. In 1995, Grübel returned to Baden-Württemberg , where he worked as a notary in Reutlingen and Tübingen until 1998 and then in Stuttgart . Today he is a reserve officer in the Navy with the rank of corvette captain of the reserve.

Markus Grübel is married and of Roman Catholic denomination.

Political party

In 1984 Grübel joined the Junge Union (JU) and in 1986 the CDU. From 1986 to 1990 he was a member of the JU district board in Esslingen.

MP

Grübel was a member of the Esslingen city ​​council from 1989 to 2014 . From 1994 to 2002 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group . From 1999 to 2002 he was also a member of the district council of the Esslingen district .

He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002 . He was a member of the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and the Defense Committee (17th parliamentary term).

Markus Grübel has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Esslingen constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he received 46.8% of the first votes . In the 2013 federal election he received over 50% of the first votes . In 2017 he received 40% of the vote.

Markus Grübel has been a member of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly since 2019 .

In the 19th German Bundestag , Grübel is the chairman of the subcommittee for civil crisis prevention, conflict management and networked action. He is also a full member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and a deputy member of the Budget Committee and the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Development .

Parliamentary State Secretary

Markus Grübel was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Defense from December 2013 to March 2018 .

On April 11, 2018, Markus Grübel was appointed Federal Government Commissioner for Worldwide Religious Freedom by a cabinet resolution.

Memberships

Grübel is a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
