Markus Gramer
Markus Gramer (born April 5, 1963 in Saarbrücken ) is a contemporary German painter and graphic artist .
Life and art
Markus Gramer grew up in Saarbrücken. 1983–1986 he completed an apprenticeship as a stonemason in Nuremberg . In 1987 he moved to Strasbourg and began studying at the "École des Arts Décoratifs" (Ateliers Gravure and Peinture), which he graduated in 1992 with a diploma in lithography and etching . Gramer has dealt extensively with the work of the Saarland poet Johannes Kühn . Numerous illustrations were created for Kühn's poems, which were published in his own books as well as in editions of the annual magazine for literature and graphics, Muschelhaufen . In his paintings, predominantly in acrylic , he shows deserted landscapes in which, in multi-layered and often muted colors , there are fictional architectural elements as well as symbolic signs of transience.
Gramer lives in Nuremberg and Saarbrücken.
