Markus Hacksteiner
Markus Hacksteiner (born November 18, 1964 in Appenzell ) is a former Swiss medium , obstacle and long-distance runner .
At the European Athletics Championships in 1986 in Stuttgart and at the World Athletics Championships in 1987 in Rome, he was eliminated in the 1500 m preliminary run . In 1988 he won over 3000 m silver at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Budapest and reached the semi-finals over 1500 m at the Olympic Games in Seoul .
In 1990 he was eighth over 1500 m at the European Athletics Championships in Split , and in 1991 he won the Zurich New Year's Eve run . At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, he did not get beyond the first round over 1500 m.
At the World Cross Country Championships he came in 1985 in Lisbon on place 235, in 1986 in Colombier on place 138 and 1987 in Warsaw on place 214.
Nine times he was Swiss champion over 1500 m (1983, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990-1993, 1998) and once each in cross-country running (1987) and over 3000 m obstacle (1994). In 1988 he won the national title in the arena over 1500 m and in 1996 over 3000 m.
Markus Hacksteiner started for TV Windisch.
