Markus Kühnis-Rivera (born March 17, 1955 in Rheineck SG ) is a Swiss organist , arranger and music teacher .

Life

Markus Kühnis first completed an apprenticeship as a businessman. He then completed his studies at the Music Academy in Zurich (now the Zurich University of the Arts ) with a concert diploma for organ. He also studied in Paris with Jean Langlais and Gaston Litaize . He worked as an organist in the parish church of Näfels GL from 1969, i.e. as a teenager, until 1996 . Since 1996 he has been organist in the parish of Emmen LU and director of the Emmen Music School. Since 2013 he has been organist at the World Band Festival in the Lucerne Culture and Congress Center . Together with the organist Wolfgang Sieber and the drummer and percussionist Christoph Kobelt , he played as the Timporg Trio from 1984 to 2000 .
