Martha Wedge

Martha Keil (* 1958 in Vienna ) is an Austrian historian and Judaist . She has been director of the Institute for Jewish History in Austria since 2004 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Keil lived in Israel for a year . She first studied French and Spanish, then history and Jewish studies in Vienna and Berlin. In 1988, she was with the thesis "former bey the judenn time t" for Dr. phil. PhD.

In 2002/03 she was the recipient of the Charlotte Bühler habilitation grant from the Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research . In 2007 she received the venia legendi for Austrian history at the University of Vienna . She works at the Institute for Austrian Historical Research at the University of Vienna and at the Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Graz .

In 1988 she became a research assistant at the Institute for the History of Jews in Austria in St. Pölten. She was deputy director from 1995 to 2004 and has been director of the facility since then. Her research focus is the history of the Jews in the Middle Ages.

She lives in Vienna in her second marriage and is the mother of two children.
