Martha Ott

Martha Ott (born March 29, 1923 in Schramberg ; † October 18, 2007 in Günzburg ) was a German entrepreneur . She was senior boss and long-time supervisory board member of Creaton AG and through her great social commitment became a well-known benefactress in the Ichenhausen / Günzburg region.

Live and act

Martha Ott grew up in Schramberg in the Black Forest , where her parents ran a small grocery store. She completed a commercial apprenticeship at the Higher Commercial School in Calw .
On February 12, 1944, she married the businessman Ernst Ott , who in Autenried in the Swabian district of Günzburg the brickworks had taken over his father. Together, the couple expanded the company into a flourishing medium-sized company.

After the death of her husband in 1987, Martha Ott successfully continued to run the business on her own and expanded it. Only after the merger of Ernst Ott GmbH & Co. KG with Josef Berchtold GmbH did Martha Ott retire after more than four decades at the beginning of 1992 from the management level and active business life and moved to the supervisory board of the newly created Creaton AG , where she is still until 2003 worked.

Martha Ott and her husband got involved - often in silence - out of a deeply Christian attitude continuously for social and cultural projects in their region. For example, they generously supported the renovation of the parish church of St. Stephan in Autenried and the singing and music school in the city of Ichenhausen and supported the local music, sports and other clubs with donations.
If necessary, the employees of their company also received unbureaucratic help from the Ott family.

Martha Ott consistently continued the previous great social commitment as a widow. In 1994 it established in memory of her late husband, the charitable " Ernst and Martha Ott Foundation " with the goal of no fault in need to help geratenen people. By the end of 2014, the foundation was able to distribute a total of almost 1.6 million euros in aid funds in the district of Günzburg.
Also in 1994, Martha Ott made a generous donation possible for the construction of a geriatric psychiatric care facility in the center of Ichenhausen, which is named " Ernst Ott Senior Center " in honor of her deceased husband .

Martha Ott received various honors for her long-term and diverse social commitment, including the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1995 and the Bavarian Order of Merit in 1999 .

Martha Ott died in October 2007 at the age of 84 in Günzburg and was buried in the cemetery at the parish church of St. Stephan in Autenried at the side of her husband.
