Martin-Michael Passauer
Martin-Michael Passauer (born January 20, 1943 in Angerapp , East Prussia ) is a German Protestant theologian . For many years he was general superintendent of the Berlin district of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO).
Live and act
Born the son of the East Prussian pastor Helmut Passauer, Martin-Michael Passauer grew up in Brandenburg an der Havel after the war . Because he - for political reasons - not for Extended Secondary School has been approved (EOS), he attended from 1957, the Evangelical School in Berlin (West) and continued after the closure of the border and the construction of the Berlin Wall in August 1961, the training in the Church Seminar in Potsdam- Hermannswerder continued.
In 1962 Passauer began studying theology in Greifswald and continued in 1964 in Berlin . In 1967 he completed the vicariate in Bad Wilsnack in the Prignitz and from 1968 to 1969 attended the seminary in Brandenburg an der Havel.
Martin-Michael Passauer took on his first pastor's position in Berlin-Weißensee , where he focused on youth work and integrative community work. In 1975 and 1976 he was acting superintendent before he was appointed the first full-time city youth pastor for Berlin (East) . In this office he took an active part in the church's peace movement and in the “open work”, which included the organization of city youth Sundays, blues masses, peace workshops and seminars, including joint responsibility for the Olof Palme peace march .
In 1984 Passauer took over a pastorate at the Berlin Sophienkirche in Berlin-Mitte and from 1988 to 1990 he was the personal advisor to Bishop Gottfried Forck of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg - Region East. Passauer took part in the organization of the protest of opposition and church groups against the manipulation of the local election results of May 7, 1989 and in November 1989 became a member of the commission investigating the Stasi attacks on the demonstrators in front of the Gethsemane Church in Berlin from October 7 to 9 1989.
In addition to his pastoral ministry at the church of St. Sophia Martin-Michael took Passauer 1992, the Office of the Superintendent for the church district Berlin City III (Region Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg), and received in 1996 the appointment as general superintendent of the diocese Berlin the Protestant Church of Berlin-Brandenburg.
Passauer retired in May 2008. His successor in the office of general superintendent was Ralf Meister , previously provost in Lübeck .
