Martin Brasch

Martin Brasch (* 1565 in Grubenhagen , ( Mecklenburg ); † April 24, 1601 in Rostock ) was an epic poet, poet, rhetorician and professor of logic at the University of Rostock .

education and study

Brasch was the son of the eponymous preacher Martin Brasch from Grubenhagen. Nothing further is known about the school career. Brasch moved to the University of Rostock in 1580, where he received his bachelor's and master's degree in 1586.

academic career

From 1589 Brasch was first rector of the school in Malchin and then sub-rector at the grammar school in Stralsund . In the autumn of 1593, Brasch was appointed full professor of logic at the University of Rostock by Duke Adolf Friedrich I. Brasch's predecessor was Matthias Flacius the Younger (1547–1593). Brasch retained his office until his death in 1601. He was followed by Peter Sasse (1571–1642)
