Martin Elsässer (diplomat)

Martin Elsässer (born January 29, 1933 in Konstanz ) is a former German diplomat .

Life

Elsässer studied law and economics at the Universities of Heidelberg , Munich , Paris and London . He was a qualified lawyer and doctor of law doctorate . In April 1960, he joined the foreign service .

He was accredited to the representations of the Federal Republic of Germany in London, Algiers, Hong Kong and Paris. From 1978 to 1981, Ministerialdirigent Elsässer was on leave to function as General Inspector of UNESCO in Paris . Martin Elsässer personally took care of the catering for Hans-Dietrich Genscher when he stopped in Cairo after the funeral of Mohammed Zia ul-Haq .

Martin Elsässer was the German ambassador to Cairo (1986–1990) and Dublin (1992–1996).

On April 20, 2007, Martin Elsässer resigned from the post of Director of DZ Bank Ireland .
