Martin Erhard (trade unionist)

Martin Erhard (born March 1, 1918 in Peiting ; † January 12, 2017 in Holzkirchen ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Erhard attended elementary and vocational school, did an apprenticeship as a locksmith , was a soldier in World War II , was wounded five times and was a Soviet prisoner of war . After his release, he returned home, worked in industry and studied at the Academy of Labor in Frankfurt am Main . In early 1953 he became full-time district chairman of the DGB for the districts of Miesbach , Bad Tölz and Wolfratshausen (later Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen ).

Erhard joined the SPD in 1949. There he was chairman of the Holzkirchen local association and the Miesbach district association, and was a member of the local, district and subdistrict board. He was a member of the municipality council of Holzkirchen, the Miesbacher district council and district committee and from 1962 to 1970 of the district council and district committee of Upper Bavaria . In 1970 he moved to the state parliament , to which he was a member until 1982. In 1979 he was a member of the Federal Assembly .
