Martin Fauster (born March 20, 1972 in Leoben ) is an Austrian chef .

Life

After completing his cooking apprenticeship in Leoben and other positions in Vienna and Bad Ragaz (Switzerland), Fauster switched to Alfons Schuhbeck's “Kurhausstüberl” in Waging am See in 1993 . In 1995 he went to the “Massimiliano” and in 1997 to the Tantris under Hans Haas (both in Munich). In France from 1999 to 2000 he worked in the three-star kitchen “Maisons de Bricourt”. In 2001 he went back to Tantris as a sous-chef.

From 2004 to 2018 he was head chef at the “ Königshof ” restaurant in Munich, which was awarded a Michelin star every year. At the end of 2018 the restaurant was closed and the building demolished; an alternative accommodation for the restaurant could not be found. Fauster then took a break.

In April 2020 it was announced that Fauster will take over the Markgräfler Hof in Freiburg towards the end of 2020 .
