Martin Kübert

Martin Kübert-Hoffmann (* 1956 in Münnerstadt ) is a German jazz pianist and accordionist who is also active in the world music scene.

Live and act

Kübert first studied school music at the University of Music in Würzburg , then jazz piano at the Cologne University of Music . In the mid-1980s he first played in the group Wütrio . With Achim Fink and drummer Heiko Thurm he formed the trio Finküberthurm , which released an album in 1990 and toured West Africa in 1993 with musicians such as Baaba Maal . He also played in the Afropop group Dunyabele . He also belonged to the Schäl Sick Brass Band and accompanied Gerd Köster , Richard Bargel and Adé Bantu . With the Iranian singer Ebi he performed between 2004 and 2006 in the Middle East, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand. He worked as a theater musician at the theaters in Bonn, Bochum, Cologne, Koblenz and Düsseldorf. In addition, he has been active in the Cologne-Calcutta Contact project since 2006 .

He is currently working with Achim Fink in the duo Finkübert , which produced the album Jazz Bliss based on the invitation to the Jazz Bliss Festival 2011 in Rangoon . He is also a member of the Tabadoul Orchestra , which mainly interprets the music of Mohammed Abdel Wahab ; He toured with him in 2011 in Sudan and Eritrea. He also arranged and produced the children's song CD “New Adventures with Olli Ohrwurm”. In 2005 he produced the music for the feature film The Great Depression by Konstantin Faigle with Andreas Schilling and Achim Fink .

He also works as a lecturer at the Cologne Jazzhaus School .
