Nyenget won the bronze medal with the Norwegian relay team in 2012 at the Junior World Championships in Erzurum . At the U23 World Championships in Val di Fiemme 2014 , he finished sixth in both the skiathlon and over 15 km classic and was twelfth in the sprint; a year later he was fifth in the sprint in Almaty .
Nyenget made his debut in the World Cup in March 2014 in the 50 km mass start race in classic style at Holmenkollen in Oslo , where he finished 41st. In the Scandinavian Cup he got seven top ten results in the 2013/14 season ; he finished the season in sixth overall. In his second World Cup appearance in March 2015 in Lahti , he clinched his first World Cup points with fourth place over 15 km. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he came on the podium for the first time in the World Cup with second place in the relay in Lillehammer . At the Scandinavian Cup in Vuokatti he came third in the classic 15 km class and won his first Scandinavian Cup win over 15 km freestyle. In the further course of the season he reached four top ten positions in the Scandinavian Cup and won the overall standings at the end of the season. His best result of the season in the World Cup singles was eighth in the skiathlon in Lahti. At the Norwegian Championships in Tromsø and Beitostølen in 2016 , he finished third in the team sprint together with Morten Eide Pedersen . With the relay and over 15 km classic he achieved second place. In the 2018/19 season he finished in the top ten seven times in the Scandinavian Cup, including second place in Vuokatti over 15 km classic and in Piteå in the 30 km mass start race and thus won the overall standings again. In April 2018 he became Norwegian champion in the team sprint together with Håvard Solås Taugbøl . In the following season he achieved fourth place in the overall ranking of the Scandinavian Cup with five top ten finishes. After two second places in the Scandinavian Cup in Vuokatti at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he finished fifth on the 2020 ski tour. In the pursuit in Östersund he achieved his first podium finish in the individual World Cup with third place and at the end of the season he was sixth in the overall ranking of the Scandinavian Cup and 18th in both the overall World Cup and the Distance World Cup.
