Martin Lillich
Martin Lillich (born June 12, 1955 in Bad Boll ) is a German modern jazz bassist and composer ; He plays the electric bass , double bass , bassello and fretless double bass guitar .
Live and act
Lillich studied double bass in Berlin, a. a. at the University of the Arts with Klaus Stoll , and Stuttgart. In the mid-1980s he was part of the Out to Lunch quartet led by Gebhard Ullmann and Andreas Willers and then toured with The Silent Jazz Ensemble , Sema & Taksim and various formations led by Christof Griese . He also played with Kenny Wheeler , Al Di Meola , Benny Bailey , Walter Norris , Leszek Zadlo and Helmut Brandt , in the field of classical music with Gidon Kremer , Mikis Theodorakis , Heinz Holliger and Nathan Milstein .
He also dealt with music from the Turkish environment, the new Klezmer scene as well as fado and flamenco . He belongs to Paul Brody's Sadawi and Quartett Berlin 21 by Torsten Zwingenberger . Together with Martin Auer , Diego Piñera and the guitarist Nikos Tsiachris he forms the Rasgueo Quartet .
He was also a lecturer at the international summer academy for jazz in Berlin and at the “Hanns Eisler” music academy in Berlin . Since 2006 he has been the band leader in the show Pomp, Duck & Circumstance ; since 2010 he has also been teaching at the Global Music School . He also wrote the music for the short film Zimmer 67 . In the Jazz Discography of Tom Lord 21 shots Lillichs are listed 1980-2004.
