Martin Posth

Martin Posth (born January 16, 1944 in Berge (Nauen) ; † September 17, 2017 in Berlin ) was a German industrial manager .

Life

In 1954 he left the GDR with his family. Growing up in Berlin-Spandau , he studied law in Freiburg im Breisgau , Göttingen and at the Free University of Berlin , where he received his Dr. jur. received his doctorate.

Act

In 1972 Posth began his career in the automotive industry at Audi NSU . In 1980 he was appointed to the Board of Management of Audi AG . From 1984 to 1988 Posth built the largest automobile plant in China for Volkswagen AG . He then became head of human resources . From 1993 to 1997 he headed the Asia region of the VW Group from Hong Kong. In 1998 he left the VW board. From 2000 to 2006 he was President of the Asia-Pacific Forum Berlin.

  • 1993: Honorary citizenship of the city of Shanghai .

Varia

Posth became known to art historians and those interested in Islamic art as a collector of Anatolian knotted carpets and kilims when he published his monograph Collected Beauty in 2014 . From October 22 to December 3, 2016, parts of the collection were exhibited in the Bumiller Collection studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
