Martin Roda mug
Martin Roda Becher (born October 21, 1944 in New York ) is a Swiss writer , screenwriter and literary critic . He has published novels and short stories, screenplays, radio plays and plays and works for various newspapers, magazines and radio stations.
Life
Martin Roda Becher is the son of the writer Ulrich Becher and Dana, the daughter of the Austrian writer Alexander Roda Roda . When he was four years old, the family moved to Europe. He grew up in Vienna, Munich and Berlin before the family permanently moved to Basel in 1955 . From 1965 to 1968 he trained as an actor and director at the Zurich stage studio . He then worked as an assistant director and screenwriter for feature and documentary productions. He took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 1980 .
Martin Roda Becher lives as a freelance writer in Basel. His legacy is in the Swiss Literary Archives in Bern .
