The Martinskirche

The Martinskirche is a Protestant parish and motorway church in Waldlaubersheim in the Bad Kreuznach district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). It belongs to the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland .

history

Martinskirche was built around 1190 as a fortified church; the Romanesque choir tower with the choir yoke in the tower basement with adjoining semicircular apse still dates from this time . Around 1500 the tower received its late Gothic helmet with four slender corner turrets and mesh-vaulted extensions on both sides. In 1862/63 the three-aisled nave of the Romanesque church had to be put down due to dilapidation and was rebuilt with the choir apse as a simple hall church while retaining the tower. As a result of the new building, the choir tower was lowered. This had to be removed in 1963. It was then reconstructed in the old forms.

Since 1991 the Martinskirche has also been a motorway church.

organ

View of the organ

The organ was built by the organ builder Johann Michael Stumm (Rhaunen-Sulzbach), probably in 1742. The original instrument had 12  registers on a manual with an attached pedal , without its own register. When the nave and apse were rebuilt in the years 1862–1863 , the organ was revised by the organ builder Johann Schlaad, whereby three registers were removed and two pedal registers were added. In 1929 the Oberlinger organ building company replaced the prospectus pipes delivered for war purposes in 1917 and equipped the instrument with an electrically powered magazine bellows . Between 1986 and 1987, the Oberlinger organ building company restored the instrument and returned the manual to its original condition from 1742. The addition of a pedal unit remained unaffected.
