Martynas Anysas

Martynas Anysas (born December 5, 1895 in Kintai , Šilutė County , Lithuania , † January 29, 1974 in Toronto , Canada ) was a Lithuanian lawyer , historian and diplomat ( consul ).

Life

Anysas studied at the Berlin University and at the University of Hamburg . In 1935 he received his doctorate in law on the subject of the Lithuanian-Polish dispute over the Wilna region from its beginnings to the opinion of the permanent International Court of Justice of October 15, 1931 . From 1920 to 1929 he was an attaché at the Lithuanian legation in Berlin and from 1929 to 1934 consul in Hamburg . From 1934 to 1939 he was an advisor to the governor of Klaipėda . From 1936 to 1939 he was a professor at the Klaipėda Trade Institute and from 1939 to 1941 at the Šiauliai Trade Institute . After the occupation of Lithuania, he was released, emigrated to Germany in 1940 and to Canada after the war . Here he was one of the founders and leaders of the Canadian Baltic Sea Federation and historian.
