Masaya Kimura ( Japanese 木村 正 哉 , Kimura Masaya ; born July 27, 1986 in Myōkō , Niigata Prefecture ) is a Japanese cross-country skier . Most recently he ran in the cross-country skiing Far East Cup .

Career

Kimura made his international debut at the start of the 2003/04 season of the Cross-Country Far East Cup in Otoineppu on December 26th, 2003. Just one day later, he was 26th for the first time in the points. After another start with top 20 placements in this series and in the same place in the following year, he was nominated for the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2005 . In Rovaniemi he achieved his best result in the 10 km in the free technique in seventh place. In December of the same year he achieved the podium in the cross-country Far East Cup for the first time with second place in Otoineppu. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2007 in Kranj , Slovenia , Kimura could not build on the success of Rovaniemi in 2005 and only ended up in the rear. The best result was a 15th place in the pursuit race.

On March 18, 2006, Kimura made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in Sapporo . In the team sprint he was eliminated in the semifinals with his partner Keishin Yoshida and ended up 18th and last. In the skiathlon on the following day he also ran after the top of the world, so that he still did not get a permanent place in the World Cup squad. In December 2006 he started again in the Far East Cup in Otoineppu and ran into places ten and eleven. In the Winter Universiade in 2007 from Turin , whose cross-country competitions in Pragelato were held, he ran to 17th place over 10 km to 15th place in the pursuit. In November 2007 Kimura was used in Beitostølen for the first time as part of the Japanese relay at a World Cup race. With a deficit of more than eight minutes, the Japan II season only finished 18th and penultimate.

At the beginning of the winter of 2007/08, Kimura again achieved second place in the Far East Cup in Otoineppu. He succeeded in doing this again in December 2008 after a few trips to the World Cup or other FIS races around the world. At the Winter Universiade 2009 in Yabuli he showed a significant increase in performance and, after good performance in the individual races with the relay, won the silver medal. However, Kimura could not take this success into his starts in the World Cup or in the Far East Cup. Most of the time he only ended up in the back seat. In December 2010 Kimura was able to win the season opener race in Otoineppu and thus secured his first victory in the Far East Cup. At the following Asian Winter Games in 2011 in Almaty , Kimura won silver in the relay and in the team sprint. After these good performances, he received a starting place at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo . After a disappointing 63rd place in the 30 km pursuit, he reached sixth place in the relay race together with Kōhei Shimizu , Keishin Yoshida and Nobu Naruse . He had to end the final 50 km race prematurely and did not finish. After the World Cup, Kimura started at the Austria Cup 2012 in Seefeld in Tirol over both 10 km distances. He finished seventh in free technique.

On March 3, 2012 Kimura came back to Lahti at the skiathlon in the World Cup but was lapped. In August 2012 he started for four races in the Australia / New Zealand Cup , where he immediately finished third in the first race in the mass start over 15 km. In the fourth race, too, he crossed the finish line in third place and was on the podium for the second time. Kimura remained in the roster for the Far East Cup. It was only rarely used in FIS races in Europe. At the Japanese Championships in Hakuba in 2014 , he secured bronze in the pursuit.
