Keishin Yoshida ( Japanese 吉田 圭 伸 , Yoshida Keishin ; born January 12, 1987 in Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese cross-country skier .

Career

Coming from Hokkaidō , he studied at Chūō University in Tokyo and then went to the ground self-defense forces where he is a sports soldier in the " Winter Combat Training Unit " (Tōsenkyō).

Yoshida has been participating in the Far East Cup since 2005 . He has won 16 wins so far and finished second in the 2009/10 and 2012/13 seasons and third in the overall standings in 2008/09 and 2017/18 . At the Junior World Championships in 2005 in Rovaniemi , he won silver over 10 km freestyle. He ran his first two World Cup races in March 2006 in Sapporo , which he finished with 18th place in the team sprint and 35th place in the 30 km pursuit race. He got his first World Cup points in January 2011 in Otepää with the 28th place over 15 km classic. At the Winter Asian Games 2011 he won bronze in the 30 km mass start race, silver with the relay and two golds over 10 km classic and 15 km freestyle. His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo were 12th place over 15 km classic and sixth place with the relay. He finished the Tour de Ski 2011/12 in 36th place. His best result to date in a World Cup individual race was achieved in February 2013 in Davos with eleventh place over 15 km freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he finished 22nd in the 30 km skiathlon , 12th in the 50 km mass start race and eighth in the relay. He finished the Tour de Ski 2013/14 in 32nd place. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he reached 16th place with the relay.

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Yoshida finished 24th at the Nordic Opening in Lillehammer . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , he came 20th in the skiathlon, 17th in the 50 km mass start race and 12th place in the relay. In January 2015 he became Japanese champion in skiathlon and in March 2016 Japanese champion over 50 km. After 23rd place in the Mini Tour in Lillehammer at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he achieved his first top ten placements in the World Cup in Ulricehamn with tenth place over 15 km freestyle and in Pyeongchang with sixth place in the skiathlon. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he finished 20th in the 50 km mass start race and 12th in the skiathlon. At the end of the season he achieved 23rd place in the World Cup final in Québec and finally reached 38th place in the overall World Cup and 26th place in the Distance World Cup. In the 2017/18 season he finished 45th in the Ruka Triple and 15th in the World Cup final in Falun. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, he finished 25th in the skiathlon, 23rd in the 50km mass start race and 13th in the 15km freestyle. After 33rd place in the Lillehammer Tour at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, he finished 30th in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 and was 19th place in the skiathlon and 16th at the 2019 Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol . 3rd place in the 50 km mass start race. He also won the Sapporo International Ski Marathon in February 2019 .
