Masters of Chant (English for: " Master of Chants ") is the second album of the Gregorian music project , which was released on St. Nicholas Day 1999. The album features cover versions of popular songs in the Gregorian style . The album was produced by Frank Peterson .

Emergence

Work on the album began in 1998 after Frank Peterson was in a monastery in Italy and listening to the chants of the monks. The singing mingled with the beats of a walkman heard by a boy next to him.

Publications

The album was released as a normal compact disc. In 2002 the DVD for the album Gregorian was released in Santiago de Compostela . A Diamond Edition followed in 2006 with an identical track list, in 2007 it was published in the Earbook Chants & Mysteries , in 2009 the album Chants & Visions Chapter I was released , which contained the album and the DVD. There are also 2 bonus tracks on the album: Mad World (Live from Berlin) & Angels (Live from Berlin). In France, the name of the album is Masters of Chant Chapitre II . In Japan, China and the USA the album had 2 bonus tracks: Breathe (original artist: Sixpence None the Richer) and Make Us One ( original composition).

reception

The album sold very well internationally, reaching number 38 in the album charts in Germany (first entry: 01/2000). It got gold in Australia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Singapore and South Africa and platinum in Portugal and the Philippines.
