The Mastník in Kosova Hora

The Mastník (German Mastnik ), also Radíčský potok on the upper reaches , is a right tributary of the Moldau / Vltava in the Czech Republic .

course

The Mastník rises on the northeastern outskirts of Střezimíř . Its source is on the eastern slope of Větrov (639 m nm) in the Vlašimská pahorkatina ( Wlaschimer hill country ) belonging to the Central Bohemian hill country . On its upper course, which initially leads east, the brook between Střezimíř and Střezimíř-u nádraží is dammed in the ponds Krčmář and Lhotský rybník. At the Střezimíř station , the České Velenice – Praha line bridges the stream. There the Mastník takes a northerly direction and flows past Lázne, Vestec, Milhostice, Cihelna, Hvízdalka, Červený Újezd , Žibkov, Styrov, Dolní Nové Dvory, U Kubátů, U Hospodského, Horni Borek, Záeticeůí and U Váetice .ů and U Váetice . The Mastník then flows past Radíč and Jíví to the northwest; at Jiříkovec it takes north again. The towns of Bída, Číšťovice, Karasova Lhota, Jarešův Mlýn, Heřmaničky , Strašík and Na Podskale follow on both sides of the stream . To the west of Arnoštovice, the České Velenice – Praha railway line crosses the Mastník valley. Drahnov, Peklo, Velké Heřmanice and Durdice lie along its course, which now again leads to the northwest. The Mastník is dammed in the Velký Mastník pond near Martinice. Then the brook flows past Mastník, Bučovice, Zahrádka, Křenovice, Drábův Mlýn, Vysoká, Podolí, Vojkov , Vrbský Mlýn, Pojezdec to Vyšatoly, where the state road I / 18 between Vrchotovy Janovice and Kosova Hora crosses it. The Mastník then flows westwards via Kosova Hora, Červený Hrádek , Xaverov and Lhotka to Sedlčany . There the Mastník, which until then was also called Radíčský potok , takes a northerly direction east of the city center and thus follows the course of its tributary Sedlecký potok. Past Panský Mlýn, Roudný, Zberaz, Na Chalupách, Sestrouň, Brožná, Osečany , Úsuší, Chýnov, Ohrada and Vesce, the Mastník forms an increasingly narrowing rocky valley on its lower reaches. Below Radíč , the brook meanders in several loops through a narrow, wooded Kerb valley, where Dubliny, Líšnice and the Kozí Hřbet castle ruins lie. The last section of the Mastník meander below the weir on the Pohořelka (393 m nm) is flooded by the Slapy reservoir. Along the valley are Kasárna, Na Kasárně, Poličany, Paseka, the oppidum Hrazany , Hradnice, the castle stables Červenka, Žlíbek and Suchá Louka. Between the castle ruins of Ostromeč and Nová Živohošť, the Mastník flows into the Vltava after 47.3 kilometers .

At the confluence of the Mastník with the Vltava, there used to be the settlement Ústí, which was flooded with the Slapy reservoir in 1955, just like the Borákov located above and the Kobylníky located opposite in the left Moldova.

Mastník is passable from Sedlčany. Between Střezimíř and Heřmaničky, the České Velenice – Praha line runs through the Mastník Valley. The Olbramovice – Sedlčany railway follows the course of the brook between Vyšatoly and Sedlčany.

history

The upper reaches of the Mastník before Sedlčany was called Zlatý potok in the 17th century . Later, the water power was used to drive 32 mills and board saws.

Easter trip

Since 1987 on Easter Sunday between Sedlčany and Radíč on the Mastník there has been a 10-kilometer Easter trip for canoeists organized by organizers from Sedlčany and the rental ship Samba. The Velký Mastník pond is drained to improve the water level. In 2010 300 canoeists took part in the Easter trip, in 2011 there were already 400.
