Matías Martínez

Matías Martínez (born September 9, 1960 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean literary scholar and Germanist .

Life

Matías Martínez studied German and philosophy in Göttingen , Paris and Cambridge (Massachusetts) .

He obtained his doctorate in 1993 at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . He was then a research assistant for general and comparative literature at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . After his habilitation (Ludwig Maximilians University 2001) he taught as a university lecturer for general and comparative literature at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (2001), as a professor of literature at the International University Bremen (2001-2003) and as a professor for General and comparative literature at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (2003–2004). Since 2004 he has been teaching as professor for modern German literary history at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

In 2007 he was founding director of the Center for Narrative Research (ZEF) at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (member of the board since 2013).

Longer research and teaching stays took him to universities in Buenos Aires , Freiburg , Melbourne , New York , Pisa , Santiago de Chile and St. Louis .

He is co-editor of the online journal Diegesis - Interdisciplinary E-Journal for Narrative Research / Interdisciplinary E-Journal for Narrative Research .
