Matawinie is a regional county municipality ( French municipalités régionales de comté, MRC ) in the Canadian province of Québec .

It is located in the administrative region of Lanaudière and consists of 27 subordinate administrative units (13 municipalities, two districts and eleven municipal-free areas). The MRC was founded on January 1, 1982. The main town is Rawdon . The population is 51,623 and the area 9578.7 km², which corresponds to a population density of 5.4 inhabitants per km².
