Matej Gaber (born July 22, 1991 in Kranj ) is a Slovenian handball player who is mostly used as a circle runner .
The 1.98 m tall and 110 kg heavy right-handed player began his professional career at the Slovenian club RD Merkur Škofja Loka , with whom he reached the round of 16 in the 2008/09 EHF Cup . In 2011 he moved to RK Velenje , with whom he became Slovenian champion in 2012 and 2013 . With Velenje he failed in the EHF Cup 2011/12 in the quarterfinals and in the EHF Champions League 2012/13 in the second round. From 2013 he ran in the French LNH for the record champions Montpellier handball . With Montpellier he won the league cup in 2014 and 2016 and the French cup in 2016 and lost to Pick Szeged in the final of the EHF European Cup 2013/14 . In the summer of 2016 he joined Pick Szeged. With Szeged he won the Hungarian Championship in 2018 and the Hungarian Cup in 2019.
With the Slovenian national team Matej Gaber took part in the European Championship 2012 (6th place) and the World Championship 2013 (4th place). He was a member of the Slovenian squad at the 2016 Olympic Games . So far, he has played 120 international matches in which he scored 166 goals.
