Mathias Moritz (born February 21, 1988 in Karlsruhe ) is a German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

When he was a child, Mathias Moritz played for three different Karlsruhe clubs, DJK Ost, FC21 and SG Siemens, before joining KSC at the age of 12 . There he went through the entire youth up to the U-19, in which he was the regular goalkeeper in the U-19 Bundesliga . He was also a member of the Baden junior team several times. He then moved to the club's U-23.

In the first three years Moritz was only a substitute goalkeeper for the second team and only made 14 appearances in the Regionalliga Süd . It was not until the 2010/11 season that he was used more often and even moved up to the bench of the second division team for four games. The following year he was number one among the amateurs and played in a total of 23 games. At the end of the season, the professional team of the Karlsruher SC relegated to the 3rd division , which is why the second team was moved back to the upper league, because at least one league must lie between the two teams of a club. For Mathias Moritz, however, this meant the rise to solid number two in the first team and thus promotion to professional football. After the loss of Dirk Orlishausen , he first came to the Baden Cup, where he saved a penalty, and on October 6, 2012, he played his first third division game at home in a 0-0 draw against SpVgg Unterhaching .
