Mathilde Sternat is a French cellist and arranger .

Her education, she studied cello and chamber music, among others with Étienne Péclard , completed Sternat in 1995 at the Conservatoire de Paris . Since then she has played chamber music in a small ensemble as well as in various chamber orchestras ( Salzburg Chamber Soloists , European Chamber Orchestra ) and as a soloist in several symphony orchestras ( Orchester philharmonique de Montpellier , Orchester symphonique de Tours , Orchester lyrique de Tours ).

As a permanent member of the Traveling Quartet (Anne Gravoin, Matthias Tranchant, Vincent Debruyne, Mathilde Sternat), for which she also writes arrangements, her repertoire includes art music from the 19th and early 20th centuries ( Tchaikovsky , Brahms , Offenbach , Satie, etc.) also arrangements of compositions from jazz ( Scott Joplin , Bill Evans , George Gershwin , Astor Piazzolla and others), pop ( The Beatles and others), film music and last but not least chanson ( Édith Piaf , Jacques Brel , Charles Aznavour and others).

In addition to these mostly chamber music engagements, Sternat composes and arranges music for theater performances and also plays live and in the recording studio with mainly French but also international musicians such as Malia , Patrick Bruel , Laurent Voulzy , Michel Sardou , Nolwenn Leroy and Sofia Mestari .
