Career

Club career

Matthew Suberan was born on February 3, 1995 in George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, and played in his youth for the offspring of the first division club Cayman Athletic SC . At the age of 15 he made his debut in the men's team with play in the country's second-highest division. In 2011 he rose with the team in the top soccer league of the Cayman Islands, the CIFA Foster's National League . He was with the team over the entire season in the top group of the league, with the first four teams only two points apart in the end. At the CIFA FA Cup , the team made it to the finals in 2010/11, where it lost 5-0 to George Town SC .

His first season in the House of Lords he finished with the Cayman Athletic SC in sixth of eight places in the table and thus came around the relegation or the relegation play-offs. At the CIFA FA Cup 2011/12, the team made it to the semifinals, where it was again defeated by George Town SC with 0: 2. In the following season 2012/13 the Cayman Athletic SC was able to improve playfully, but again ended the season only in sixth place in the table. As in the previous year, he was eliminated with the team in 2013 in the semi-finals of the CIFA FA Cup, which now consists of a return leg. As in previous years, he reached sixth place in the final standings in 2013/14, with the team showing similar performances as in the previous year, but eliminated in the cup against league rivals Roma United in the first round . At the beginning of 2014 he was to take part alongside Ramon Sealy as one of two soccer players from the Cayman Islands in the MLS Caribbean Combine at the Antigua Recreation Ground , the national stadium of Antigua and Barbuda . However , he was rejected by the technical team of Major League Soccer (MLS); just like the Jamaican Jermaine Woozencroft , who was then also not allowed to participate.

The 2014/15 season, in which he played for the championship with the team for a longer period and ended the season in third place in the table, is one of the greatest successes in the club's history, as well as in Suberan's previous club career. However, he celebrated even greater successes with the Cayman Athletic SC in the 2014/15 CIFA FA Cup, when he moved into the final against the Elite SC with the team and won it 3: 2 after 1: 1 at halftime. 2 was behind. Another triumph was winning the Charity Shield after a 3-1 win over the Scholars in October. The performance in the President's Cup 2015, in which he was eliminated with the team in the two-legged semi-finals, did not go unnoticed either. As has often happened in the past, Matthew Suberan finished the 2015/16 season with the Cayman Athletic SC in sixth place out of eight, although this time they were closer to the relegation zone than in previous years. The 2015/16 team also came to an abrupt end in the cup competition.

National team career

For the first time demonstrably in the national team of the Cayman Islands Matthew Suberan was called up in 2011 by the Jamaican Carl Brown . He needed him for his squad, which in November 2011 played two international matches against the Dominican Republic in the second round of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup . He made his debut on November 11, 2011 in the 4-0 defeat of his team, when he came on the lawn for Derrin Ebanks in the 37th minute and was cautioned with a yellow card in the 73rd minute . In the following second game against the Dom. Rep. He was not taken into account four days later, sat on the substitute bench, but remained out of action.

After a few years after that, after nothing was known about possible international appearances, at the end of March 2015 Alexander "Chandler" González called him up for two more World Cup qualifying games, this time for the 2018 World Cup . In both first round matches against Belize Suberan came to use, but played in neither of these two encounters. The Cayman Islands were then only eliminated from the current World Cup qualification due to the away goals rule . To date (as of June 9, 2016) the midfielder has been shown to have played three international matches; Nothing is known about further missions.

Parallel to his time in the senior squad, he was also active in the U-20 national team of the Cayman Islands, where he sometimes even appeared as their captain ; so any of these qualifying CONCACAF Under-20 Championship of 2015 .
