Matthias Cornils

Matthias Cornils (* 1965 in Karlsruhe ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz .

Life

From 1988 Cornils studied law at the University of Bonn . He completed this course in 1993 with the first state examination in law. In 1995 he did his doctorate in Bonn under Fritz Ossenbühl with a thesis on public liability law . Even before his second state examination in 1997, Cornils taught constitutional and administrative law at the Mittelrheinische Verwaltungsakademie Bonn until 2007. After the exam he worked again as a research assistant for Ossenbühl in Bonn. In 2004 he completed his habilitation there and acquired the venia legendi for public law and European law .

Several professorships followed: In the summer semester 2004 he was a professor at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg , in the winter semester 2005/06 he represented Hans-Jürgen Papier in Munich , in the winter semester 2007/08 he represented Thomas von Danwitz at the University of Cologne and finally In the summer semester of 2008 he was Andreas Voßkuhle's representative at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . In the 2008/09 winter semester, Cornils was appointed to the newly established chair for media law, cultural law and public law at the University of Mainz.
