Matthias Freudenberg

Matthias Freudenberg (born October 20, 1962 in Alsfeld ) is a Protestant theologian. From 2006 to 2012 he was associate professor for systematic theology at the Kirchliche Hochschule Wuppertal .

Life

After graduating from high school Leopoldinum in Detmold , Freudenberg studied Protestant theology , Latin philology and education in Göttingen and Tübingen between 1982 and 1989 . He completed his studies with the First Church Examination and the First State Examination . After the Vicariate in Schwalenberg and the Second Church exam Freudenberg was from 1992 Assistant Professor at the Department of Reformed Theology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg , where he 1996 Karl Barth and Reformed theology for Doctor of theology doctorate and 2002 fold Systematic theology studies on history and theology of the reformed churches habilitated . Teaching assignments at the universities of Bamberg , Erlangen and Göttingen followed.

In 2006 he became a university lecturer for systematic theology with a focus on Reformed theology in Wuppertal. Associated with his professorship was the pastoral office of the Evangelical Reformed community in Schöller in Lower Berg . Since 2012 he has been the pastor of the Evangelical Student Community (ESG) at Saarland University in Saarbrücken .

Freudenberg's work focuses on the renowned Reformed theologian Karl Barth , in whose complete edition he was involved. Freudenberg has also translated, commented and edited texts for the Calvin study edition. Matthias Freudenberg is also the author of numerous contributions to the BBKL .
