Matthias Kohlmann

Matthias Kohlmann (* 1956 in Würzburg ) is a German draftsman and sculptor . He is a professor at Pforzheim University .

Life

From 1977 to 1979 Kohlmann studied German , philosophy and art history at the University of Tübingen . In 1979 he moved to the Stuttgart Art Academy in the field of sculpture . From 1984 to 1986 he was at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . In 1986/87 Kohlmann received the Baden-Württemberg State Graduate Scholarship, and in 1991 the Baden-Württemberg State Scholarship .

In 1987 he designed the large entrance area of ​​the University of Applied Sciences in Villingen-Schwenningen with Michael Jäger . Picturesque fields of color by Jäger were rhythmized and structured by Kohlmann with large ceramic sculptures (worked in the state majolica in Karlsruhe ).

He had various teaching positions, for example from 1986 to 1989 at AUDI / NSU in Neckarsulm for three-dimensional drawing for engineers. In 1988 he was visiting professor with Thomas Lehnerer at the Progetto Civitella D'Agliano summer academy in Italy. From 1987 to 1990 he had lectureships for sculpture and drawing at the then technical college for design in Pforzheim . In 1998 he was an External Lecturer at the University of Southampton , Barcelona Department .

Since 1999 he has been professor of drawing at Pforzheim University , Faculty of Design. From 2003 to 2006 he was Vice Rector at Pforzheim University, and since 2014 he has been Vice Dean in the Faculty of Design. In addition to his bachelor's degree, Kohlmann also teaches the Master of Arts in Creative Direction.

He is a member of the German Association of Artists . Kohlmann lives and works in Stuttgart .
