Matthias Pacht (* 1968 in Karlsruhe ) is a German screenwriter .

Life

After studying scriptwriting at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy (1997–2002), Matthias Pacht received a grant in 2005 for a stay at the artist residence Villa Aurora in Los Angeles.

Together with Sven Taddicken , he wrote the script for the short film Counting Sheep, which was nominated for the Student Academy Awards in 2000. The film adaptation of his debut script My Brother the Vampire was shown at many festivals and won national and international awards.

In addition to scripts for the TV series Tatort and Polizeiruf 110 , he also wrote the templates for the movies The True Life (2006) and 12 Meters Without a Head (2009). Most recently Matthias Pacht wrote the scripts for the literary adaptations Die kleine Hexe (2018) and, together with Alex Buresch, Jugend ohne Gott (2017).

Matthias Pacht and Alex Buresch received the Thomas Strittmatter Screenplay Award in 2004 , the German Film Critics' Award in 2007 and the Adolf Grimme Award in 2009 for the screenplay for the film Dasrue Leben .

Matthias Pacht teaches scriptwriting at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . He is a member of the German Film Academy and lives in Berlin.
