occupation

And forgive us our guilt is a TV film from the ARD crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The film was produced on behalf of the BR and was broadcast for the first time on Sunday January 17, 2016 on Erste . It is the tenth case of the Munich police call investigator Hanns von Meuffels .

action

Tim Haffling, convicted of murder, commits suicide in his prison cell after almost ten years in prison. Suddenly Jens Baumann appears at Detective Chief Inspector Hanns von Meuffels and confesses to the murder of 16-year-old Miriam, for whom Haffling was imprisoned. The young girl's body was never found; At that time, Hanns von Meuffels was in charge of the police investigation. Baumann describes von Meuffels from his point of view the events of that time, which can be seen in flashbacks . Accordingly, he took the drunk Miriam and her bike in his car. He let her persuade him to go to a nearby lake. They spend a few carefree hours there. On the way back Baumann becomes intrusive, Miriam runs away and falls, hitting her head on a stone. Baumann loads the dead woman into his car and finally buries her in the forest. Baumann initially dismisses von Meuffels as a weirdo and free rider , but lets himself be persuaded to drive with him to the alleged place of the corpse, where the parking lot of a hardware store is now. Baumann remains adamant, however, claiming that Miriam was pregnant, which was previously unknown. The superintendent drives to Miriam's hometown, where he questions her boyfriend at the time, who was a suspect at the time. Then he visits her parents; the mother has still not got over her death and hopes that she is still alive. Finally he learns from Miriam's former girlfriend that she was actually pregnant. The main witness at the time was a boy who stood in for his father in the kiosk by the lake, who was watching a World Cup game of the German team with the camping guests. He had stated that he had seen how Miriam, after buying drinks from him, got into Haffling's car and drove away with him. Haffling was known as a tensioner in the village. Von Meuffels questions the now adult witness again, and it turns out that he had only seen her at the car, but was then distracted by the goal celebration. Von Meuffels learns from the local shop owner that she saw Baumann when he bought a bottle of vodka for the underage Miriam. Baumann now claims to have strangled Miriam. Von Meuffels obtained a decision from the public prosecutor to have the hardware store parking lot torn up in order to search for the corpse with a sniffer dog, but it was not found. Baumann drives to Miriam's parents, whom he confesses to the murder. The angry father wants to kill him, but comes to his senses in time. Baumann finally committed suicide at the lake. Von Meuffels inspects his apartment, noticing on a map that a descent into the forest has been relocated so that they were looking for the corpse in the wrong place. He drives to the right place and starts digging there with a spade he has brought with him .

Reviews

“How one person talks and talks to relieve himself, how the other bricklayers and bricklayers to deny possible omissions, that takes more than 85 minutes. Director Marco Kreuzpaintner (' Trade - Welcome to America ') stages the memory duel as a thunderstorm of guilt and atonement and lets it thunder and rain until in the end all the dams of self-manipulation break and all self-certainties are softened. In the end, of course, nobody is forgiven. "

“In a film like this you have to find a counterpart for an actor like Matthias Brandt who can keep up with his force. The Austrian Karl Markovics ( Die Fälscher ) plays this Baumann on the very narrow edge between dwindling bourgeoisie and approaching madness. In the overall package with this crazy look [...] that is really very great. A single work of art. Maybe the best so far. "
