Status: end of career

Matthias Peßolat (born March 26, 1985 in Cottbus ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

He has been part of the Wacker Nordhausen coaching team since autumn 2018 .

Career

Matthias Peßolat began playing football at the age of six in Senftenberg, Brandenburg, in the talent factory of FSV Glückauf Brieske-Senftenberg . At the age of 17 he went back to his hometown and joined Energie Cottbus .

However, he began his senior career with the top division club FV Dresden 06 Laubegast , who loaned him out in 2004. There he played as a regular from the start, but on matchday 10 after a cruciate ligament rupture, his debut season was almost over. After the descent of Dresden he returned to Cottbus in summer 2005. He also played in the league team in Cottbus and was mostly used there.

After just one year, the versatile defensive player switched to Rot-Weiß Erfurt . There he recommended himself after a short time in the league team for the first team in the Regionalliga Nord and already made 20 appearances there in his first year. In the following year he contributed as a regular player to the rise of Erfurt and thus made the leap one class higher into the third division in the professional area. In the 2008/09 season, however, he struggled to establish himself in the team. Often he was only substituted on and then only used in the second team. He also attracted negative attention due to two referrals. The following season started promisingly, but when he was sent off again on matchday three and the team also lost 5-0, he was again deported to the second team. He then left the Thuringians for the winter break.

In January 2010, Peßolat found a new employer in Chemnitzer FC . Although he played with the Saxons again in the regional league, he was set in the defensive midfield. After third place in the 2009/10 season , the club went up the following season. Peßolat was again a regular player and contributed to the fact that the CFC as the sovereign leader of the table succeeded in advancing to the 3rd division.

On June 27, 2012, Peßolat moved to FC Carl Zeiss Jena , where he signed a two-year contract. After playing 53 games for FC Carl Zeiss in two years, he announced his departure from Jena in May 2014. He signed a contract with league rivals FSV Wacker 90 Nordhausen on June 23, 2014 .

After the active career

Peßolat has been assistant coach for the first team at Wacker Nordhausen since autumn 2018. Together with Tino Berbig , also a former player of the club, Peßolat took over the post of head coach for some time in winter 2018 and in winter 2019.
