Matthias Ssekamaanya

Matthias Ssekamaanya (born October 15, 1936 in Kasolo ) is a Ugandan clergyman and emeritus bishop of Lugazi .

Life

Matthias Ssekamaanya was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Kampala on December 19, 1965 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Kampala and titular bishop of Iziriana on March 9, 1985 . The Archbishop of Kampala, Emmanuel Kiwanuka Cardinal Nsubuga , donated him episcopal ordination on June 2nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Barnabas R. Halem 'Imana , Bishop of Kabale , and Paul Lokiru Kalanda , Bishop of Moroto .

On November 30, 1996, he was named the first Bishop of Lugazi .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on November 4, 2014.
